Facial and Leg Vein Therapy with Photoderm

Aging, genetics and pregnancy can cause patients to develop a variety of unwanted pigmentation and veins in their face, legs and feet as veins lose elasticity and begin to stretch. Although varicose and spider veins cause cosmetic concerns, they may also be the source of discomfort and circulatory problems. Dr. Sajjadian is one of the few cosmetic surgeons in Orange County and Inland Empire to specialize in Photoderm facial and leg vein therapy treatment.

Photoderm is a non-invasive procedure that can treat multiple conditions causing unwanted visible blemishes on the skin.. The procedure begins with a cold gel being applied to protect the skin of the treatment area. Dr. Sajjadian then administers intense pulsated light therapy (IPL) to the treatment area, which reduces pigmentation. The procedure typically lasts around 30 minutes and is relatively painless for the patient.

Photoderm treatments consist of short bursts of very bright light directly to the skin. This feels like a “snapping rubber band” or brief sting on the skin surface, and anesthesia is usually not needed. Computer-driven programs guide the proper wavelengths, energies and pulses. Bruising is minimal and scarring is rare.

All photoderm treatments are tailored to individual patient needs with a range of technologies that may include Photoderm VL Intense Pulsed Light System, the HGM Elite K1 Krypton Vascular Laser or the Vasculight 1064nm yag laser.

Photoderm Results and Treatment

Photoderm therapy can make a large impact on the visibility of veins and pigmentation, but for the best results, Dr. Sajjadian will recommend a plan to ease any discomfort and enhance the final result. Many patients are able to greatly reduce visible veins and pigmentation within 2-5 treatments using Photoderm. Dr. Sajjadian recommends spacing out the treatments 4-8 weeks apart to achieve optimal results. Following the procedure, moisturizer and/or aloe very topical treatment are recommended to keep the treatment area moisturized.

With Photoderm treatments, patients can see a significant improvment in a variety of conditions, including:

  • Leg veins up to 5mm in diameter
  • Portwine stains in adults and children
  • Facial veings
  • Redness or mottled pigmentation on the neck (poikiloderma)
  • Tattoos
  • Liver (age) spots and other pigmented spots and birthmarks
  • Hair removal from almost any part of the body

Dr. Sajjadian meets with every patient personally to discuss desired outcomes of the procedure and expectations. By gathering this information, he is able to design a specific plan to correct the treatment area in the best way possible.
